If your first delivery was rough was your second easier?

I had an assisted delivery and 3rd (borderline 4th) degree cut with my first. Currently pregnant with my second and my doctor said I would most likely have an easier, shorter delivery and could possibly even go earlier because my body went through so much the first time around it would be almost more prepared in a sence. I had never heard of this before and am curious to hear what other moms experienced. Thanks!
