Can I get an accurate test now?

My last period ended April 1st, and I had sex on April 17. It's been 30/31 days since my last period. I took a test three days ago and it was neg (took it at like 3am lol), I took a test this morning and it was a defective test. Would I be able to get an accurate test by now? Or do I need to wait longer. I've been TTC for a year, off birth control for a year (IUD).... I am so anxious! What's your thoughts ?
