Getting induced and very confused

I went for my 29 week Drs appt and my blood pressure was high again and dr says I will have to be induced at 37 weeks. I am due July 22 which makes my new due date June 30th. I'm so confused as to how it can be 22 days earlier than he's been saying. I've been having really bad Braxton hicks contractions for the past 5 days now and told him and he said i shouldn't be feeling pain until 30 weeks. Like I just don't understand. I sooooo didn't want to be induced. Can someone explain why I need to be? I know it's unhealthy for the baby for my blood pressure to be high but what exactly does it do to the baby?
