From what I understand in my limited medical training (lots of experience everywhere BUT OB) is that you won't see much if anything until 5-6 weeks of gestation. Right now it's basically a little seed burrowing into your lining. See a primary in a couple days to follow up for blood work to confirm your levels are rising and then request another ultrasound at 5 weeks assuming levels are still rising( they should level off somewhere around 8 weeks)

Her hormones and baby's development can only be as far as actual fertilization occurred.

Which is also why they didnt get too worried by not seeing anything yet.

No. 2-3 weeks means 2-3 weeks. If she ovulated 2-3 weeks ago then she would only be that far along. The start of the cycle is only used because most women don't know when they ovulated

At 2-3 weeks (or 6-7) they should see at least a gestation sac on the ultrasound. Did they look in your tubes to see if it was ectopic? If you have an ectopic pregnancy and it goes undetected it could rupture your Fallopian tube and you could lose the tube or bleed internally. Please go to another doctor or hospital ASAP. I don't believe you we're handled correctly.

So you are between 4 and 5 weeks pregnant. You won't see anything until at least 6 weeks

Not true. At 5 you should see a gestation sac and yolk sac, minimum.

It's not normal, but it also doesn't mean something's wrong. Sometimes something will show up after a few days or weeks. However, not always. It's a 50/50 pretty much. Best of luck!

I am glad you're going to see an ob though. If nothing else to ease your mind, I'm a nurse and I'm even freaking out a little because I had some early bleeding too, biting my nails waiting for results to get to me tomorrow;)

gestation, and there should definitely be something on the ultrasound by then.

I'm glad you are. What most posters don't understand is that saying you are 2-3 weeks pregnant really means 6-7 weeks

It's just too early. I had my earliest ultrasound at 7 weeks and it's only the size of a grain of rice so it's hard to see.
