Dog food?

I'm really into this whole living naturally idea. I like eating natural foods, seeking natural remedies, avoiding processed stuff, etc. So, naturally (ha ha) I've started thinking about how I can feed my two dogs something closer to what they would be eating in the wild. For the last couple of weeks I have been feeding them some homemade dog food (a little bit of oatmeal along with a lot of leftover meat, fish oil, veggies and a whole egg) once a day and their normal dog food once a day.
But, I told one of my girl friends the other day about how I'm feeding my dogs "people food" (as she called it), and she kind of freaked out. She was telling me that no "domesticated" animal should be eating a "wild" animal's diet because it will make the dog act more wild. She also said I'm spoiling my dogs!
So, I'm wondering. What do y'all think? Do you think feeding your dog a "wild" diet is a good choice, or do you think dogs need to stick with their dog food?
Also, here are my pups :) Jade and Crosby!
