Clogged milk duct???

Question

I have a super sore lump in my breast that's was not there when I went to bed. I googled this and it says it could be a clogged milk duct. It is 4 am and I've got a heating pad on it and LO just fed so can't nurse, and I already pumped ( that's how I found it I thought I was just still engorged so that's why I went and pumped). Any other ideas? I will call my doc when it's not so early but wanted to see what yall do about this. And what the h ck causes it? I feed every 2-4 hrs on demand, don't wear underwire, but I did have a lot of stress last 3 days. Can that cause it? 
 FTM here and LO is 4 wks old. Exclusively breastfeeding.

I had a lump the other day.  I took a warm shower massaged it and put warm compress on it then pumped it. The lump is gone now

What I did was take an ibuprofen to help with the swelling and pain. It helped me relax a bit while I sat there with a warm compress. I had to pump twice to get it out though but it worked.

Feed from the clogged breast first each time. Keep it drained and feed every two hours at least. Pump asap after to make sure it's fully drained. Massage and heat before.  Make a castor oil pack and apply with heat. You can google that one. It will help inflammation and with pain. Look at kellymom for more info. Sometimes clogs can happen and you don't feel a lump. There are lots of factors but going with your gut and acting fast is important. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I thin between the heating pad and massaging it and nursing it is better. Sore in that spot from all the massaging. Weird, it was at the top of my breast, and I sleep on side usually. BUT I have overactive milk letdown and have to put pressure on top of breast to keep LO from choking so maybe that caused it?

Super hot shower. Massage it the whole time. Let baby nurse as much as possible afterwards. They will work it out. It's harmless to them but you will see thick or stringy milk.

Sometimes if you sleep on your side or stomach, it can cause the clogged ducts. I had one just the other day and spent the whole morning massaging and putting a heat pad on and pumping multiple times. I even took an extremely hot shower which didn't help. Luckily my LO has just learned to breastfeed, I popped her on and it cleared right up. Hope this helps!

Congratulations on the birth of your little one!

I had a hard lump when I first started breastfeeding and I massaged it while laying on my tummy in a warm bath to release some milk. It went away after a day or two. I think there are a lot of things that can contribute to the occurrence of a clogged duct, but I also think they can just happen.
