Crib or bassinet? Or Both.

Question

Do you ladies have one or the other or both. And why. My father got our crib for us and my older cousin is giving us his because their baby never used it. Doesn't it make sense to have both? I plan on breast feeding and I hear that is why some women get bassinet.

Both. I kept my baby in the bassinet in my room for the first few months. Once they can sit up, they need a crib though. A pack n play has a terrible 'mattress'... If you got a better mattress for it, you could use something like that. But I wouldn't remind that, they're pretty flimsy,

I had both with my son. The original plan was to have him in his crib from the beginning and we put a futon mattress on the floor of his room if we felt like we needed to crash. It was so exhausting getting up from the floor that after ONE NIGHT of that, we went and bought a bassinet/co sleeper for next to our bed. We would try to have him nap in his crib during the day and sleep in our room at night.  The bassinet was also on casters, so I could roll it into the living room if he was awake and I needed to be in the living room/kitchen. I would absolutely recommend both. When I went back to work at 10 weeks, we switched him to the crib for nighttime.

I have a bassinet that I'll be using until she's big enough to move to a crib. I won't buy it until she's ready. Bc babies are so used to tight spaces, they tend to freak out if you put them in a huge crib right away. I'm gonna wait maybe 2-3 months after she's born until I buy her a crib.

Honestly, I had both and never really used either. I had my babies sleeping with me for the majority of the time, but if I was busy and needed to put them down, I'd use the crib if I was in the room or bassinet if I wanted them near me. If I was doing something where I could have the baby closer to me, I would wear them. I would say to go with the crib though, because once baby is able to move around a lot, the bassinet wouldn't be safe for them. Mine grew out of the bassinet pretty early.

I have both, I'll put the bassinet next to my bed and the crib in the baby's room.

We will be using my family's bassinet (75+ years old but new mattress) until she outgrows it then we'll move her to her crib. I want her in the same room as us for the first few months, hence the bassinet. The nursery is all the way across the house.

It's honestly gonna depend on your baby. We have both and she won't sleep in either one for longer than an hour which equals to no sleep for us. So we're not even using either one right now.

I used both. My daughter slept right next to my bed in a bassinet and when she was about 7 or 8months, I switched her to her crib in her own big girl bedroom. We plan on doing the same thing with this baby too.

I plan to get both. I have heard that most babies don't like cribs right away because they are too big and spacious and they are so used to being in tight and cozy spots. And the bassinets are prefered for nursing moms because you can have baby easily by you. I think I read that babies are will accept cribs more around 3 months.
