Anybody going to a hospital tour?

Tomorrow I'm going to go tour the hospital where I'm planning on delivering my baby boy. :)

I'm so exited. It feels so real (obviously) but you know what I mean. hahaha!

I'm very glad we did the tour, and now know what to expect on a very hectic day. I even got to ask the nurses what kinds of snacks are their favorite so I could make sure to arrive with something they like.

I'm lucky my step mom is a nurse in l&d so I haven't been able to tour it (I don't have much choice it's the only hospital nearby) but I'm confident because she will know the nurses and that makes me feel a lot better.

I would recommend it. It's typically free and you can see the space where you would deliver and recovery. Also, the hospital will often disclose what is permitted and what isn't along with their practices/policies for in room nursery or out for medical exams for baby etc as well as other policies yo might not realize or think of! I did one with my first and now I'm giving birth in a different hospital and plan to do the tour again. Typically you can register during the tour or find out how do you don't have to worry about it when you actually go into labor!

I was going to but they don't offer tours at MY hospital, just at the main birthing center hospital like 30mins from home. I went in 2 weeks ago while having a long bout with weird suspicious contractions though and at least got to see it then, which was very nice. I just don't understand the way their touring works, seems stupid.

I did a hospital tour with my first child and found it very helpful since they could answer all my questions! Now my second child will be born in a different hospital (different state) and I plan on taking a tour at this one as well.

Oh also, make sure you sign up for it ahead of time. They do them on certain dates/times and most hospitals won't just let you wander up to the maternity ward/nursery anymore for safety reasons...you have to be on a tour or be visiting someone (they will ask the name). No baby stealing!! ;)

I did it with my 1st. I will again now, since it's a different hospital and state. It was helpful to know what the rooms were like, where to go, some of the rules and especially about the security measures. The hospital my son was delivered in, they did almost everything in my room and the only time he left was for the circumcision and bath, but I went with him on both occasions. ;)
