Semi-Formal Dress

I'm going to a friends party this weekend and the attire is semi-formal. Our homecoming was also a semi-formal so she had said that out homecoming dresses would be fine.(the gold one). The purple one is the same length as the gold and I think the purple is okay for the party but I'm not completely sure. Which one would be the better one to wear?!
