Make it or break it?

Question

So, recently I've seen a lot of mixed messages about relationships and the affects of having kids. So I'm wondering what did having kids do for your relationship? Did you become stronger, or did you fall apart?

We have 4 children and have been together 5 years. We talked about the first going back and forth and he wanted the 2nd...which turned into the 2nd and 3rd (twins) and the fourth was a total surprise.  I think it made us stronger and better. We were both stuck in a partying rut... I mean I drank all day everyday until I found out I was pregnant.  Then we both sobered up and it was really good for us.  Our relationship was purely physical but children have helped us connect on so many other levels and I don't think we would've lasted had it not been for the babies. Both relationship or life in general

It definitely drew us closer together. We had a good relationship before, so that was a factor. But seeing this little person we made together made us have a different bond than before. Watching him being a father became a different kind of 'handsome', seeing him take charge of the well being foe our kids makes me feel so attracted to him. He tells me being a mother is so beautiful to him. My kids are 16 and 14 now, and it has been the one constant in our marriage, 'we have to be the best people we can be for our kids and our family and our relationship'.

Having said that. My parents has a bad relationship and when they had me (then my little sis)  it was a disaster and exacerbated the problems that were already there.

We were married first and then had our son. It made us a stronger team. It changed our lives around but not our relationship.

We know things will change. We hope that the relationship we have created over 10 years is stable and strong enough to handle children. We're realistic, and know that things will change. Hopefully for the better.

Usually relationships go way down during the "child years". Doesn't have to end the relationship but in all my classes at college (I loved psy and relationship type classes) that information was consistent.

Okay so the father of my child and I were a one night thing tried to make it work and we were just too different but when I was pregnant around giving birth I met a great guy and having my son only made us closer. I am now engaged to this man the love of my life planning on marrying in June of 2017 and TTC now never been happier in my life

My husband and I agree that we likely wouldn't have matured enough to continue our relationship if we hadn't had our first child together.

I don't think that is typical though.
