Sex in first trimester??????

Question

So I read that you shouldn't have sex in the first trimester because the semen creates a chemical reaction and makes your uterus contract. Is this true?

Hmmm. You can't? Whoops. Guess we've messed that up through all four pregnancies... My kids turned out healthy and normal, and my doctor never mentioned anything to me about not having sex in first trimester. Only time I was told that was during this pregnancy, when the er dr told me after my car wreck that we needed to abstain for two weeks to give my body a chance to heal and lessen the chances of miscarriage.

It's natural for your uterus to contract when you have an orgasm. It's one of a few organs that does even when you're not pregnant. I don't think semen causes it, either. I'm in my First trimester & have had orgasms & where he didn't pull out (sorry, tmi) & my baby is still growing like a weed. If you do have an orgasm though, you'll have cramps for a few minutes. That's just from your uterus contracting because it's bigger & you feel it more when it does. My doctor said you shouldn't have sex if you're high risk. Hope this helps!

Semen DOES make the uterus contract but so does an orgasm...semen helped start my labor with my son (a day past his due date) but it is  completely safe if you have an overall healthy pregnancy.  If you really are nervous about it tho, I would either use a condom or speak with your doctor to see what she has to say from a medical standpoint.  A lot of articles about pregnancy online can be pretty biased or over exaggerate...if you have had miscarriages in the past then talk to your doctor maybe.?
