Wife of a police officer.. How is it?

I've asked this earlier and I wanted to provide that we live in Canada so the first year pay is 54,000$ which is good for here. Do they get any days off?! Any vacation? Are they always on call? I just want to know. I'll stick by his side no matter what! We only see each other on weekends so I know I can adjust. It scares me

It really depends on his department. My soon to be ex was an officer at 2 different departments and it was different at each one. His first department he worked a set 5pm - 1am, days a week. Every month his 2 days off would change, but everyone always worked on Fridays. When he got overtime he could choose to get overtime pay or use it for comp time. He got a couple weeks vacation and a couple days off for every holiday. He was never on call. 
Second department: work hours rotated from 6a-6p one month and 6p-6a the next. Any overtime was automatically comp time, he got no overtime pay. He gets a couple weeks vacation and 3 days off for every holiday. Now that he's k9 and bomb squad, he's on call 2 out of 4 weeks a month. His schedule is Tuesday- Thursday one week and Tuesday- Saturday the next. His hours vary based on what's going on in the city. If there are a lot of buglaries, he'll work day hours during the week. If he works Fridays and Saturdays, he works 4p-1am to control the clubs. He is off every Sunday and Monday. 
It really just depends on the department on how his schedule and vacation will be. I enjoyed being an officers wife, too bad he turned into a cheater after 8 years of marriage.

This is crazy I am an officers wife and while I was dating my husband the whole 13 days I knew his schedule. He just transferred units and now it is messed for the next 6 months. But here in ontario you CAN'T work 2 full time departments. They won't let you work more then 48hrs in a week. And days off you CAN'T work for another police service or pi or most other conflict jobs. So I call BULL.
