It's a female name although it's very close to the male name Alwyn. I was talking to my friends about how names affect job applications and as a woman going into a male dominated field (studying physics) I'm really grateful that my parents gave me a name that I don't personally see as very feminine nor very masculine but I'm interested to see how you all see it?

It's kinda sad that it has any affect but the more I talk to women in the field the more I learn about struggles they have with their names and how going by their less feminine, middle names can sometimes get them the job which is ridiculous.

It's kinda like how the name Ashley is America is considered to be a feminine name but in actuality it's a masculine name in other countries. I think that's pretty cool.
