Does anyone know what the checking your temperature birth control?

My friend told me that her birth control is a catholic okayed birth control that you check your temperature to see if your at your highest fertile days if you are you don't have sex but if you weren't you do what the hell is up with that does anyone know what she's talking about I'm beyond confused.

I use fertility awareness the method I use is symptothermal method I take my basal (resting) body temperature, cervical position and cervical mucus. It is effective if done correctly and you follow the rules.

She's fertility temping. I did it. But the only way to do it accurately is it simply confirms ovulation after its already happened so if she had sex and she saw an increase in her temp there's a chance she's already pregnant. You need to be very regular in your cycles for it to work. She'd have better success not getting pregnant using pols to track her ovulation.
