Mri while pregnant ?

Are you allowed to get an mri while pregnant ? I tore a ligament three years ago in my ankle/foot, and I'm going to see a new foot Dr next week, but I didn't know if I should just wait until after I give birth or not ? I'm almost 11 weeks.

As a side note, google image search on "pregnant and MRI" shows you all sorts of neat pictures. It was fascinating to see how the little buggers actually fit in there in a late pregnancy.

MRI uses magnetic field. No radiation :)

Yes, I have to have one done for my back & when I called to schedule they told me to wait until 12 weeks or 2nd trimester

Yeah, I had to get one after a car crash. Completely safe!

I had to have one right before I hit 2nd trimester to measure the growth of a tumor I had in my ovary. It's safe. A week later, I had surgery to remove my right ovary, Fallopian tube, and an almost 10cm tumor. The mri really helped to determine the material the mass was composed of.
