Blood type and concern?

I read that certain blood types can cause concern and would like some help understanding why. I am O- does this pose any threats?

Depends on if your SO is positive or negative. If he's positive then there's precautions you must take (rhogan shot)

I'm a blood banker and I know first hand what it's all about. If you are O- like you say you are, the -negative RH is the important part. If your baby is RH positive AKA O+, A+, B+, or AB+ then it can cause you to develop antibodies against the baby's red blood cells (RBC). They'll give you Rhogam at 28 weeks if not sooner, and then again after the baby is born if they are RH+. If untreated with the first baby it's not usually a problem, it's the second baby you need to worry about- cause the moms antibodies will attack the baby's RBC.  Rhogam will prevent you from forming the antibodies- don't worry one bit.

Nothing that they haven't dealt with before :) My moms O- and I'm A+ and so is my sister. How far along are you and have you had your first appointment? They should cover this. No worrying!! ;)
