What not to do while breastfeeding.

I am interested in breastfeeding my daughter after she is born. What should I do to prepare for this? I know there's a long list of things that you are not supposed to do. If anyone can help me with any information on this topic?

When I BF'ed my son he would get really upset if I ate chocolate. Anything with seeds in it gave him gas especially cucumber.  And he wouldn't stay latched if I ate limes or lemons. Just pay attention to how your baby reacts after feeding and if you notice extra crankiness write down what you ate cuz it could be what's causing the crankiness.

My one suggestion on what NOT to eat is citrus. I had a glass of orange juice and by the next morning my son had an acid burn diaper rash from it. I felt so guilty.

I don't think I restricted my diet at all when feeding unless there was a problem. I discovered both mine don't tolerate dairy, so went dairy free. Otherwise, just ate as normal. I breastfeed my second for 3 years 3 months, till he lost his latch.

Baby is used to what your eating now so don't change your diet too much when babe is born and you should be good. I know also to drink lots of water to help promote milk production.

Is it true that if you breast feed your baby for a long time, you loose your pregnancy  weight faster?

Look up what not to eat I believe what you eat will effect baby. Such as caffeine won't let your baby sleep and beans(I'm Mexican so yea lol) will give baby colic. I am not sure if every breastfeeding mom feels this way but I did I also ate healthy in the beginning to make sure my baby got the best.

Look up foods to encourage milk production and foods to stay away from while breast feeding. Some things you ate during pregnancy may not agree with your baby. Keep a food journal and write a little bit of info as to how the baby was that day. For example if you eat red peppers and your baby was fussy afterwards and it happens more than once it may not be a coincidence.
