So I am having my second baby in November. With my first I had my mom and sister with me apart from SO in the labor room. Well my mom was annoying that day to me she's the type to post every detail on Facebook while I'm more private and just might post a baby pic later and it bothered me having her stuck on her fone also when your hungry and can't eat 😑 but they decide to eat in your room cornuts of all things. Noisy!!! Anywho my mom and I have become estranged in the last year and a half. We don't call each other we only talk at any family events when we see each other but it's awkward. So my thing is will I be wrong if I don't let my mom know I am in labor or my sister I just feel it would be awkward. And my sister and I get along fine but she's a mommas girl and she will start with her stuff if I call her and not my mom. Our issues cannot be easily resolved we tried it once and we got no where. But I just don't want the day to come and feel like I need them there and I'll regret it. Any kind word are needed here !! Thank you ladies

You would not be wrong. ANYONE that YOU want in there needs to be there. If you only want your SO in there than so be it. It's all about your comfort, not their feelings. I think waiting until after you have the baby to tell them will be the best idea! Good luck momma.

There's nothing wrong with not wanting to have anyone else there other than you & your SO.. If you feel like they should know, wait until everything is done to call them & let them know you delivered!

I had my mom at my third child's birth. She got bored and left to go shopping. My sister was there for my third also and was totally fine so I invited her back for my fourth which was a twin birth and my sister is my twin sister. I was fortunate to be at the birth of her first baby last year and it was totally amazing! I didn't invite my mom to the twins birth and she won't be at baby #6's birth either. I feel like they should want to be there and be supportive every step. My hubby felt the same way.

It's ultimately up to you. My mom and DH were with me for my sons delivery because we didn't know how it was going to go or if I'd end up needing an emergency c-section because I was born that way, so I needed to feel secure in knowing DH would go with DS and my mum would stay with me if me and DS were separated. I also needed my mum there because DH doesn't do well with me being in physical pain, he doesn't know how to help me and I can't tell him how to help me, I've always worked it through myself but it was good my mum was there because one contraction caused me to pass out when I was walking to the bed and DH was near me and the nurse was just entering the room with the Dr and DH caught me before I hit the floor and my mum jumped to catch me and what happened was DS had turned and kicked my spine and a nerve was pinched so my whole right leg went numb and the blood flow to my brain was cut off. This time I'm going to deliver with just me and DH there because my mum will be with DS because he needs to be kept on a diet and as normal a schedule as possible for him to function well, and so I plan on having an epidural if everything goes as it should and nothing drastic happens, because I want it to be quiet and calm and easy with no pain at all.
