So we are pregnant with #2 and have the name Dakota Lynn for a girl. The only problem is, my BIL, who I don't really get along with, has a step daughter named oakleigh lynn. Lynn is also my middle name and my grandma's. Also, his step daugters cousin's name is Dakota and she is also a girl. This wouldnt be such a big deal if we didnt all do family functions and church together. I just dont want them to think I chose those names to copy them. UGHH!!!!

If Lynn is your middle name, I'd say you have more of a claim to that than your BIL, and I also think that your step niece in laws cousin is such a far off relative that Dakota is up for grabs too. It would be different if it was his daughter lol

They are gonna think you copy them even if you tell them that you didn't! Keep looking for another first name and keep lynn that's your middle name. Unless you really love the name you pick right now then be it! If im having a girl my middle name is going to be her first name. My middle name is Ariana, and i like it alot! So what are you thinking now???

If you love the name and know that you didn't pick it based on the other kids names then it shouldn't and doesn't matter. It's your baby.

also the other middle name we chose (Grace) is also the middle name of another of his step daughters. He has 3 of them. And i didnt know any of their middle names until this week.
