1cm dilated?

Question

I just went to see my midwife and she checked me and I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. How long did all of you moms stay dilated before you actually started progressing or going into labor? I'm 37 weeks 3 days.

I was dilated to a two for like a month and now have been at a 3 for like two weeks and my cervix is low and very soft. Still no real signs of labor here at 38 weeks. Being dilated and effaced really isn't a good indicator of how soon labor will be unfortunately. I don't know why doctors even bother to check. On the other hand you can be 0cm and 0% effaced one day and be in full blown labor witching 24hrs. It really just depends.

I was 3 cm from 33 weeks on with my first and I never got past 4 cm. I had to have an emergency c section after my water broke. Now I'm 35 weeks 5 days with my second and 1-2 cm dilated the past two days.

I've been 3 1/2 cm since 22 weeks I'm currently 38 weeks and hopefully getting induced tomorrow 💕

Could be hours, could be days..  unfortunately it depends.  I was dilated to 3cm with my daughter for over a month before I had her. I'm 36 weeks now with this pregnancy and was checked a couple days ago, I'm dilated to 4cm and 50% effaced. There is no way to say for sure how long it'll be before baby comes.  Goodluck!
