Are birthing classes worth taking for FTMs?

Bradley method classes focus on physically and mentally training the body to be prepared (as best as possible). You don't just sit there and listen. You do exercises every day, 3 month class, homework, and they give the partner a constant involved role. So I don't believe it goes all out the window--- unless i was taking a one day hospital class etc...

Bradley treats their training like an athletic event. Muscle memory and consistant practice I know will pay off!

I don't think it's fair for other FTMs to be telling you yes or no. Opinions or fine but really it is a personal preference. I don't regret taking any of my classes- I probably took way too many. But I would definitely still take most of them. I see it as, so what if most of the info goes out the window like some claim, it's not a waste of time or effort when it comes to the care of your little one.

I didn't take any classes at all with my daughter and I'm not taking any this time either. I'm already certified in infant cpr and first aid so if I wasn't I would absolutely be taking that class and i think that's one everyone should be taking, no exceptions! I thought birthing classes would be frustrating because I was petty sure that nothing was going to really prepare me for the reality of giving birth and I was right! That's just for me though. I really do think that classes can be super helpful for women with different personalities from mine.

I'm 38+3 and haven't taken any. I asked this on a different app and many responded it all goes out the window when the real deal is happening. Some say if you're planning for an unmedicated birth it's 10000% necessary and informative. Many people love the Bradley method classes and have a lot of positive feedback. I've watched videos online thru medical/ baby websites so we'll see if I have regrets after my baby comes! Lol

I plan on taking a class because I am a planner and I want an idea on how stuff will go. It's only $100 through the hospital so why not.

I voted no, but that's not really fair because everyone is different. I never took a class with my first, never watched videos or researched methods. I knew exactly what I wanted and went for it. I knew there was possiblities of things going wrong, which bothers me because I'm a planner... But I went in the delivery room saying I can do this, I want all natural birth. That's exactly what I did. After 32 hours of labor I delivered a 7 pound baby girl with no pain meds or interventions. I thought I it like this, if I watch videos or take a class it will sike me out. Im 24 weeks with #2 and still refuse to watch videos, research anything or take classes because I want to go off my first birth. I know plans can change, but I knew if mine did it would be medically necessary and I would deal with it then. I know people who have done research and they changed their minds about the pain meds, they were upset with them selves for changing at the last minute. Not that getting meds is wrong, just not what they wanted. Do what feels best to you. You know better than anyone what you can handle and what will help prepare you. Good luck! 😀

Depends on what type. I never did the hospital one, but I took a Blissborn class (a type of Hypnobirthing) and it was what got me through a natural, drug free labor with my son. It helped a lot! Good luck!

I went to one and to be honest I had already found all the info myself using forums like this and different sites online - I'm still glad I went though because it was a chance to ask questions.
