Breastfeeding and surgery

I just found out that I'm going to need to have surgery within the next few weeks. I'm only 8 days PP & breastfeeding so my question is after anesthesia when will I be able to nurse again? I'm getting conflicting answers. My daughters pediatrician said she isn't worried about the anesthesia but more so about any narcotics they gave me ( I won't be taking any) but my doctor who will be doing the surgery was telling me to pump & dump for 3 days after. I plan to start a stockpile of milk but just wanting to know how much I really have to pump..
