What's the difference between nursing and medical assistant?

I'm been undecided if I should do Medical assistant then PA or Dental Hygienist? What are the pros and cons?

Im a CNA and med tech i pass out meds at the facility i work for and i love it the elderly ppl are like my family medical asst work mostly in drs offices

Ok what's the difference between a nurse and a medical assistant lol? About 4 years of college and 80,000 dollars a year difference

Nurses such as LPN/LVN or RN have licenses. We pass meds. Draw blood and start IVs (if IV certified as an LPN/LVN). Can work in hospitals, dr offices, LTC, SNF, home health, and prisons. MA are medical assistants they work primarily in Dr. Offices.

I think the difference is one can pass meds and the other can't. Not sure tho lol I was a cna for 2 yrs now I'm an LPN wanting to climb to RN BSN and I'm done lol

I took a cna (cert. Nursing assist.) Course. It was 6 weeks and I was ready for the work field...the only downside was that most nurses work crazy and stressful schedules, rain, snow or shine you are depended on to be there. I haven't had a personal experience with dental assistant, but I have heard MANY great things...like 6 week course, better paying than nursing, and a set m-f 8-5 schedule, paid holidays...all that good stuff. And most practices will pay for you to go to school after you have been there so long. I would personally go for hygienist...especially if you have or are wanting a family in the future.
