Help! Period late, lasted less than 2 days

I've never posted before, however now I'm losing my mind. My period was a few days late, i wake up with what i think was my period and it didnt even last til the following night. Leading up to it I had a slight fever for nearly 2 weeks and living on ginger ale due to nausea/uneasy stomach, headaches, etc. I don't want to waste my time taking a hpt too soon....please has anyone else experienced this?
