ECV experience? Breech at 36 weeks.

Question

I'm 36 weeks and 3 days and baby girl has not moved from her head up position. She likes to lay transverse right under my ribs and will shift between that and vertical breech, but never seems to move her head lower and never goes below my belly button. I'm a FTM and my doctor doesn't think she'll move on her own so I'm scheduled for an ECV (external cephalic version) for TOMORROW. That is when my OB can do it and she doesn't want to wait another week in case baby gets too big to flip. I'd rather try the ECV than resign myself to a C-section. Anyone had experience with an ECV? Did it work? Was it painful? Was it worth it?

Had the procedure this morning. It hurt a lot more than I expected and now it feels like my belly is bruised. She hardly moved at all, but there were no complications or anything like that. The doctor tried 3 times for just a few seconds at a time. They scheduled me for a C-Section in my 39th week. I'm bummed, but if she turns on her own then I can still do a vaginal birth. I've tried all the spinning babies techniques, but now I think I'll try a chiropractor and maybe acupuncture. We've got 3 weeks until the c-section appointment, so I'm hopeful, but also trying to be ok with the C-section.

My baby goes from transverse to vertical breach as well at 35 weeks. I keep seeing all these stories about how the evc doesn't work.... So if my dr suggests a c section, then that's what I'm doing.

Try being on your hands and knees. For awhile. That can give the baby enough room to move on its own into the right position. It can't hurt.

I've read that an ECV is relatively painful (depending on pain tolerance) and is effective 58% of the time (according to WebMD). I stumbled upon this one day looking for something else and thought it was interesting. There are risks involved (as with anything), but they are rare. I'm hoping your little one is cooperative and that it isn't too painful for you, momma.

I am in the same position as you. Baby girl breech at my 28 week scan and again at 32 weeks. I have another scan at 36 weeks on Friday to see but I don't think she has turned. I feel her head under my right rib cage and she moves vertical but never head down I think. I get kicks mostly below my belly button. I think they will offer me a ecv. Please. Update after you had yours! And good luck, I hope she turns xxx
