D&C vs medical management advice?

My worst fear was confirmed last night: at 11wks 3days, we found out that our little baby had died at 8wks 3days.
​I now have to decide if I want to have the medication and pass the baby 'naturally' (which is only 80%effective), or if I want a D&C. I'm leaning towards the D&C because I just want it over, it also seems like you bleed for about a week after, but the medication can take 3 weeks, and may end up in a D&C anyway. 
​Advice? What is the procedure/recovery like for each? 
​My first pregnancy ended in an early natural miscarriage. This is my second. I feel like there's no point trying again.

Thank you so much for your kind words. And I'm so sorry for you too. 
I will be asking my doctor to check progesterone levels if I ever get pregnant again. 
I don't know how long my hcg levels will take to return to normal...I'm still testing positive today. 
Unfortunately I seem to have nothing but time at the moment, so nothing to do but dwell on what could have been, and what I might have done. (I'm a teacher and finished for the summer) I need to find some sort of project...that isn't conception and pregnancy! 😔 xx

I've had two natural mc and the one where I was further along (9w) was exponentially more physically painful. Went into labor, lost a lot of blood, dehydrated, had to be admitted to the hospital. If I ever have another, I will absolutely request a D&C. You already have so much to go through emotionally. But it's certainly a personal choice. So sorry for your loss!

I was 14 weeks(Jan 7,2015)  when I had my medical D&E. I was devastated but it's what was best for me & my body. I gave up on trying bc I didn't understand why me outta all the women in the world that don't deserve kids who can have them then less than 2 months later(March)  I found out I was pregnant

I found a d&c was easier on my body than a natural mc, particularly as you are quite far along. So sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, I had 2 natural miscarriages, one at 8 weeks, one at 9 weeks then opted for a d&c the third time at 10 weeks. The d&c was definitely the easiest, yes it's awful being in the hospital but it's over with quickly & the bleeding afterwards is more period like than miscarriage bleeding. I found my body recovered much quicker after the d&c as well. Good luck & hope you recover quickly. X

So sorry for your losses. You have to trust your instincts on what is right for you. Personally I would do a D&C. (I have done a lot of research because I'm high risk for miscarriage.) The medication sounds like it can cause a lot of cramping/contractions and bleeding which can continue for up to a month. And only 85% effective as you know. I would hate to go through all that and still end up with a D&C. Plus, I don't think I could emotionally handle all the waiting and anticipation of expelling the clots and tissue. Some people consider the medication "natural" but it seems unnecessarily painful to me, and I admit I have a low tolerance. I'd rather get the experience over with and move on. But that's me. You have to do what feels right to you.

I found out I was having a miscarriage at 10 weeks and decided to have a natural miscarriage. Just depends on how comfortable you feel with going with a d/c which I wasn't comfortable with. Baby passed about a week later. I've had two miscarriages in a row, I'm now pregnant at 16w4d with a healthy baby. Don't give up hope. I know it's difficult, I thought there was no way I was going to be able to have a baby but here I am. Third times the charm! I'm so sorry you are going through this though

At 11 weeks, I went natural, i was in so much. I was having strong cramps i couldn't move i was in intense pain. My bleeding was too much. I actually ended up in the emergency room because i started to black out... Natural isn't alway the right way to go. Only like 80% go completed woth out medical assistance. But remember every pregnancy is different.

Ps keep in mind as someone that dealt with major depression n suicidal thoughts my whole life these feelings will pass!!! You will be ready to try again you will be able to smile again n  feel happy! I'm so sorry Liz I can't imagine what you must be feeling! I would say d&c it makes it lol happen quicker feel better hope that the emotional pain passes quicker then you may think possible at the moment😔
