Hello ladies, Am i selfish? Please share stories

Im not Pregnant..i just think and dream alot on how things would be when that time do come....when i find out that we have successfully conceived i really dont wont anyone to know right for awhile i just want to enjoy the joy with my SO for a little while..but family will find out before 20weeks...even after i give birth i could imagine me just wanting to be alone again with just me and my SO and baby right after delivery  ....AM I SELFISH??

Side Note:  Our family is crazy lol..and super loud and very photogenic love pics and im not really wanting to share with media (facebook, IG, etc.) and i wouldn't know how to express that enough...i would LOVE them taking pics just not uploading them..SO and I dont really like social media enough to just post like that ...selfish?

I feel you. I just kicked my mom out because I wanted us all to be alone. I love her but she wanted to stay for two weeks and we are just not super social people.

This is how my husband and I are/am!  We told our parents between 8 and 9 weeks, and then announced it at 20 weeks to "everyone else".  We love far from family so it was easy to hide and I didn't show for a long time.  I've put up 1 bump picture and 2 ultrasounds online for family and everyone to see. And my husband has already said no visitors besides my mother for 2 weeks after she is born!  One side of the family isn't used to not putting everything online so it's been funny watching them try to post subtle hints and things.  Only family know the babies name, and we probably won't announce her birth right away!  ..... we're both pretty private and our family is doing their best to abide by our wishes, just lay down the law and only release what YOU feel comfortable with!

I'm not quite as private as you are, but we didn't post anything on social media until after our first ultrasound and that was a little after 3 months. I told my parents RIGHT when I found out. And he told his mother before I even had a chance to tell mine lol we lived in his hometown when we found out but are currently in my hometown until we have the baby. We've posted quite a few things on social media but that's only because we have so many people are close to scattered around the country lol I don't think you're being selfish at all though. When you do conceive it's a very special time and sometimes people can be pretty invasive when you're pregnant!

Me and my SO are deciding not to post to social media. I'm 22 weeks and 5 days. We also decided not to post pictures of her after she is born either. We aren't big fans of social media and the people who don't know we have a child will hear it by mouth eventually. If people don't know it's cuz it's non of their business! Lol family and close friends know of course :)

This is my current situation. My DH and myself are deciding whether or not we want ppl to visit right after the baby is born. We have already agreed that no pictures will be taken of our son before we decide its okay. I don't want his picture on any social media site. I want his birth to be mine & my DH's time. Of course our parents will be there, but I don't want them there for long. I want my time to bond with my son and for us to get use to being a new family. I've already decided that the first day, delivery day, will be our's. No pictures, no videos (unless my DH takes them), and no real visitors (parents) for longer than an hour. I'm not sure if that is selfish, but we just want that time to bond with our son before he is shoved in the lime-light.

I'm feeling the same way. I'm 10wk4d today and I enjoy having just my close friends and family know. I'll be announcing publicly on July 20. And once the baby is here- I want all the time alone I can get. 😊

I would wait until you ARE pregnant. Things may change, things may not. I know people who get super excited and can't wait to share even though they thought they didn't and others who went social media silent to have more privacy. Either way, your decision 😊

On the photo thing can you say you don't really want a million photos on social media, but what would they all think about a baby photo shoot about a month post birth? Those ones can be shown around and kept forever.
