Improper prenatal care for high risk pregnancy (rant)

Steph
So I'm kinda in the slums because I found out today that I have not been receiving the best and proper care for my pregnancy and now both me and baby are at higher risk for other issues after my little guy is born.
I'm glad I have a specialist that is going to be constantly monitoring me now even though I have less than 7wks until my induction, but still bummed out.
I was apparently prediabetic or diabetic before getting pregnant and wasn't being monitored. At 14 wks I was taken off Metformin and 2 wks later had full blown GD. Went unmedicated for 4 wks then was monitored every 2-4 wks if the dr felt up to it. Today I was informed that I was not testing at the right times and the meds weren't working anymore so I have to start Metformin again along with my glyburide as well as both will be upped weekly until birth.
The specialist will be monitoring my sugar levels weekly and has decided that he will take over majority of my prenatal care and delivery. He is also focusing on what immediate care baby will require within hours of birth since my regular clinic felt fetal kidney issues can wait to be dealt with weeks later (basically give baby antibiotics until a pediatrician could operate), which could cause my baby to lose a kidney without immediate attention. So now my induction will happen at a hospital over 2 hrs away and baby and I could be released as early as 48 hrs after his kidney surgery instead of me at one hospital for 48hrs and him medivacted immediately to the children's hospital to be away from me for over a week.
Am I the only one that hasn't received the best prenatal care for a high risk pregnancy and is bad I just want it over with?
