Would you choose a C-section or Perineal tear recovery?

Question

For those who have recovered from both a c-section and a 2nd degree of higher perineal tear, which recovery did you prefer? Which took longer to feel normal again? We're there complications with either recovery? You can also vote the recovery you'd prefer even if you haven't had both!

Tear all the way. I had a 4th degree tear and my vagina is normal. I would never want a c section. That's cutting through all of your major stomach muscles. My vagina is meant to stretch and give birth my stomach is not. Plus I want my body back. I feel like c sections should be a last resort with a life and death situation. Plus there are so many ways not to tear. Laying on your back is the worst position and works against gravity. Water helps you become more elastic, you can even rub oil on your vagina and give your perineum a massage and that will help, evening primerose....

I had a 2nd degree tear, after an episiotomy (nightmare of a birth). It took awhile to heal but the best advice that I recieved was to keep moving. It hurts, but you heal quick. The more I moved the less pain I felt. I can't imagine either option would be enjoyable, but I think I would have felt like I was missing something if I didn't have a vaginal birth. But always, baby's health first!

Had a c section and it sucked. I'm going for a vbac because I want 3-4 kids. My dr said you can't keep having c sections. Risk keeps going up. So if you want more that 2 kids, I'm sure tearing is better.

I haven't had a csection but honestly I had a third degree tear and the recovery was NOT horrible... I took ibuprofen and just took extra good care of my lady parts and healed extremely well in a week, completely healed by about two weeks. I'm totally grateful for that.

C section recovery is terrible TBH my aunt had twins April 2014 and she is still healing and trying to get rid of scars the scar is very sensitive to touch

I would never choose to have a csection again. It is a serious surgery that gets riskier with each occurrence.

I'm choosing a c section I don't want my lady parts all torn up my tummy already has stretch marks so another scar won't hurt I also read up on those tears on down there and some ladies say its never the same down there again so it really helped me to pick a csection choice
