Would you go to an event two hours away at 37 weeks?

I've had tickets for a year to an all day event two hours away from my home/hospital. It's indoors and air conditioned, so I'm not worried about the heat. I've had pain off and on throughout pregnancy, but my biggest concern is going into labor away from my hospital. Would you travel two hours away at 37 weeks pregnant? It's my first baby, so he could be early or late.

It would depend on the event.  2 hours is plenty of time to get you to the hospital in NORMAL circumstances.  Scope out the nearest hospital so you know where to go in case of emergency.

Thanks everyone! I feel much better. My husband and I will be going together. I see my doctor every week, so maybe she can check me as was suggested. And I'll be sure to figure out what hospitals are nearby.

I agree with PPs. As long as you aren't going alone you should be fine. I would definitely find out if there is a hospital close by that accepts your insurance just in case, but typically most FTM have long deliveries

I'm going to my family's this weekend 2 hours away. I'm making hubby take me but I'm so going. I'll be 36 weeks.

If u are not going alone and will travel by car you should be fine. As the others suggested any sign of things starting I'd hit the road right away. I'll be 38 weeks when I travel 3 hours away for the weekend. I am a bit worried about it but my fiance will be with me and there are hospitals there if I need one.

I assume you'll go to the dr that week and they'll check for dilation. The dr can give you a good indication of weather or not your about to go into labor by checking you.  She/he can also give you advice on going or not.  Also, just watch for labor signs. If it seems like it's coming, don't go. If you start having bad Braxton's while your there leave. It will most likely be fine though.

Lastly, it's your first pregnancy. You will be in labor for a long time. You're not going to have your baby in the car due to a 2 hr dr.

I say as long as you're not alone and have a plan just in case you need to head to the hospital you should be fine for going to the event
