Purity ring

What are your views on purity rings? I do not have one and I no longer can because I'm not "pure" but a few of my friends have them. I would just like someone to explain to me the reasoning for them because I don't see the reason to bring religion into something personal in your life like that. I just see that as a personal choice honestly. Comments would be great thank you :)
