A Different Perspective

So I know there have been hundreds, if not thousands of posts about Marraige Equality. But I have a slightly different perspective of the issue that I'm curious of all of your opinions of. This is not a post about whether Marraige Equality is right or wrong so if you want to debate that, go to another thread.
There have been so many supporters of same sex Marraige that tell Christians "It won't affect you! Why do you care?!" At first, I myself being a Christian, tended to agree. But now more often, it's coming out about wedding vendors being accused of discrimination for turning away same sex couples. I read an article (will try to link it) about a mom and pop bakery in Oregon that we're sued and  lost their business (in addition to being fined $135,000) because they politely refused to do a wedding cake for a same sex wedding.
In the video included with the article, the wife explained that they had served the couple before. So I'm sure the couple coming in to but a birthday cake or a loaf of bread wouldn't have been turned away. But since this was a wedding cake, for a wedding that the bakery owner's do not support, they refused to be involved with the event. Shouldn't this be their right as small business owners? They are not a major corporation with shareholders. They probably ate, slept and lived for that business. They probably used many biblical ideals in how they ran their business.
And what's worse, they were interviewed on the radio about the situation and now the state of Oregon has issued then a seist and desist order for them to stop publicly speaking about why they refused the service in the first place. Essentially, taking away their right to free speech and right to publicly practice their religion.
I understand discrimination laws, but now there is an overlap between discrimination and religious freedom. Which trumps the other? Any thoughts
