Did anyone have tests done before a year of trying?

I'm on month 8 of trying and of course during the tww. Well I went to the doctor because I was concerned and said to schedule ultrasound. Of course I have new insurance and it would be like $500. I'm 31 and opk have shown ovulation every Month. We are going to have my husband have the seman analysis done first since it's cheaper. Just wanted some others stories on when they had testing done. She also mentioned another laparoscopy test after ultrasound.. Is 8 months of trying too early sould I wait till 1 year of trying? Thanks
