How to tell if baby is right temp?

For some reason I'm really worried about my baby being too hot or cold when it's born. We have a 225 year old farmhouse in upstate NY and don't have AC (have never needed it). We heat with wood mostly. We plan to cosleep but I know babies like to be swaddled when sleeping. How will we know if the baby is too hot in our bed? I know we can't use blankets near baby. Normally our house is like 55 in the winter but what's a good temp for a baby? Baby is 9 days overdue now so will be around 6 months when it gets really cold.

If your hot the baby is hot, if your cold the baby is cold. That's what I always went by no reason to worry about it

When my sister was taking birthing classes, they told her to dress the baby in the amount you would want to be dress plus one more layer.
Their circulatory systems are much less developed than ours, so they can get cold easily.
I have the same question actually, because we like to sleep with the room fairly cold. I imagine a good fleece sleep sack will work.
I'm planning to ask them at one of my appointments or at the hospital, if I forget.

You can feel the back of their neck to know if they're too warm.

Our AC is at about 73 this summer and when I put my 3 month old to bed I make sure she has one layer of long sleeves, pants and socks or else her little toes get cold! They have sleep sack things that are made of fleece that have actually been too warm for her but might be good in a house that is a little colder!

If your hot the baby is hot if your cold the baby is cold and remember they are smaller so they get cold and hot faster :) but just touch the baby skin if its clamy then its hot, if its fingers and toes are cold then the baby is cold... Trust me motherly instinct kicks in! :)
