Will you be getting the Tdap vaccine?

Question

I keep seeing this suggested advertisement pop up on my Facebook. It says we should all get the vaccine each pregnancy because it prevents against whooping cough. But the standard Tdap shot last five plus years. I had one done with my first 4 years ago so I'm undecided if its something I should get this time or not. What are you ladies doing? Any one had it before and aren't getting it done this time?

I know this is a generally touchy subject and I hope we can all share our thoughts without judgement and arguing. Please don't make this a vaccine debate I just want opinions and personal experience. Thank you in advance. 😊

As a healthcare professional, I say absolutely!! There are too many cases of kiddos suffering and dying from this completely preventable disease! And it's one that can occur in any living situation!

My doctor isn't really giving me an option he says I need to get it in the third trimester it helps protect the baby from whooping cough once it's born. I would get it just to be safe

It's not really for you but for bubs, to give them a little immunity towards whooping cough until they're able to have their vaccines.

Every time you get pregnant you should get the T-Dap Vaccine. That's what my doctor told me! If you don't have another baby the shot lasts 10 years :) I got mine and I'll get another if I ever get pregnant again.

My daughter is two and I will  be getting this in a few weeks in my third trimester Best to be safe for the new arrival

I don't think I've ever had it and never had it suggested to me either. Even 6 years ago with my son it was suggested.

I actually just got mine today. My Dr said that even though I have already had it in the last few years, they say it won't be helpful to the baby unless it is given now. And same with subsequent pregnancies.  They recommend getting it again, even if it's next year. The main reason to get it is that it builds your antibodies and passes them on to baby so he/she is covered until you vaccinate them (assuming you do).

I would ask what your dr recommends since your getting close to the 5yr mark. I had mine 2 years ago so I won't be getting it again this time

My ob gives us the option and I will be taking it. Might suck a little SO had his and he had a very minor reaction to it but he got it done, needed a tetanus anyways he's a roofer for metal roofs so he said why not since I was pregnant. I like that littles are covered via your anti bodies. I'll be doing the same with the flu shot come September.

I'm not getting any shots in this pregnancy as my obgyn has not recommended it. Afterwards I have to get many vaccines for things I'm not immune to :(
