Alone during delivery?

Question

Were any of you ladies alone during your delivery? How did you feel? Do you think it made the experience harder for you? Did you initially expect to be alone and then change your mind and let someone in? Did you regret being alone? This is mainly for the ladies who didn't have the father in the picture or the father couldn't be there (eg: deployment.) Any & all advice appreciated!

This is just my personal story. I got pregnant at 15 and the father just up and left me one day. I went through my entire pregnancy with only my parents support. Although they was very supportive it's just not the same as having that special someone supporting you.  So when it came time I let my mom in and when the pain got bad I just started crying for my daddy (I'm a daddys girl and he had never let me down)  It was really hard on me and depression hit me hard because I had no help from his dad at all and to be honest I didn't want my parents help,  I had asked them for enough without having to ask to help raise him.  So for my entire 11th grade year I worked 40 hours and went to school and took care of my boy without any financial help other than my parents letting me stay at their house.  I met my hubby when my son was 1 and we are pregnant with our 3rd child (my son i had at a young age my hubby considers him his son)  and it was so much better and easier when my hubby was there for me.  I don't know all about your situation but if you have anyone who wants to be there for the birth it might not be a bad idea  to consider letting them be there and support you.

My husband was in the hospital himself.. in icu when I gave birth to our 3rd. I was in the delivery room alone and I thought it would really bother me but at the time you are just focused on what's happening and it doesn't cross your mind. I did find that the nurses & my doctor were much, much more personal and still made it special for me. Nights were super lonely though. I came home the next day so I could take care of the other two. Having a 6 year old and a 20 month old and a newborn did take some getting used to. Its alot harder to breastfeed when you have a smaller child as well... but you get the hang of it. There were some tears.. sadness, frustration.. but it worked itself out.
