New baby in a blended family

When me and my husband got married I brought in a 3 year old son and he brought in an 18 month old girl and a few month old daughter (he left his ex while she was pregnant for being emotionally abusive) well this Wednesday I can call my doctors office and they'll know from blood work if we are having a boy or girl. I've told him this already but is it mean for me to tell him if we are having a girl I don't want what his ex and him have bought for his girls for this one to use? I feel like it would be kinda weird, and before you ask if we are having a boy I've already gotten rid of all my sons baby items so it's not like I'm not fair. I just don't want what was used in their relationship to be used with our new baby but I didn't know if that seems mean 😕
