Short IUD Strings

Confession time. I haven't checked my strings in months. I read about one of my Facebook friends having to get her Mirena surgically removed and got scared. So, when I checked I noticed they were a lot shorter. Probably half the length. I'm not in any pain or anything. Should I go to the ER or is that silly? I won't be able to see a doctor until Friday because I live in a rural area. HAALP!
