Membrane sweep??

I just got my first check Wednesday (36weeks) and I'm not dilated yet. I want to ask my dr to stretch me or do a membrane sweep but I've never had that done/asked about it. How does that work and
Can I just ask her about it at my appt next week?
Do I need to wait until I'm dilated or anything?

They won't do it til your closer to 40 weeks. Because it can possibly send you into labor and doctors won't do anything to send you into labor before 39 weeks unless there is a medical reason.

I believe you have to be dilated to do it, your Dr has to put his/her finger inside you cervix to do it.

My Dr did it at 38 weeks.

I think you have to be dialated first in order for them to be able to stretch it. You will feel (a gyno's favorite word) "pressure". It kinda feels like a pap smear.
