SSI for baby

My 2 1/2 month old has been in the hospital twice this week, both times admitted.  She's started choking on mucus. We found out she has reflux and she's going to be going home with a sleep apnea monitor so if she stops breathing I'll know. My mother in law said I'll be able to get SSI for her., I was wondering if anyone else has done this, what does it entail? Do you think my daughter will be able to get it? She also has strider.
