Gift/tip for doula?

We have hired a doula for our birth, and she is pretty expensive. I only mention that fact to ask if we should give her a tip afterword? Or a gift? Just wanted to hear about what others did for their doulas!

not necessary. i am an aspiring doula and after receiving my fee i would never expect a gift or a tip. its a sweet gesture though, but don't feel like its something that you need to do!

Doulas are expensive where I'm from, no need to tip when it's not like they are only taking a cut of the rate. In anything service based it's unnecessary to tip if the provider takes home the whole fee.

I am a doula and honestly for me nothing beats a handwritten card from the heart. She can adorn her office space with it and always have that sweet memory of you for years and years. I have cards from when i first started almost 7 years ago and it still warms my heart every time. Whatever the gift is, do it because of the intimacy and empowerment you shared together, and what inspires you from that. Otherwise, it may not convey the feelings you would want/or wish to convey. ❤️ very sweet of you to think of that.

I am a doula. I am expensive. I am worth it, lol. That said, I never expect a tip or a gift, but they make my day when I get them! Usally I get $100-$150 as a tip, though the lady that gave me a set of doterra EO's made mt LIFE!

I feel like doula is doing something so special and personal for you that you should get them a gift.  I think a tip is a little impersonal since they are doing something so personal for you, but I'm sure they like cash too!  Maybe gift cards for something enjoyable, like a gift card to Starbucks incase she's tired and hungry after the delivery, maybe a gift card for a message since she probably will give you many durring the delivery, or a mani pedi for relaxation.

I am getting my doula a gift from etsy. They have a ton of neat little doula things on there. I am getting a really great rate, if it was more expensive, I might be more inclined to give a nice card and some baked goodies.
