Would you be angry?

My mom recently took my 6 year old daughter on her first vacation without me. It was a 4 day trip to Tennessee and I was originally going to go but couldn't due to bed rest. On the way there my mom's boyfriend got pulled over. They made it sound like no big deal but I just found out he was going 89 in a 70!!! I'm livid! My child was in that car. How irresponsible of him!

I am pretty shocked that at this point 30% of people have voted overreacting. I wouldn't want someone going 90 miles an hour with my child in the car, are they fucking insane? Pardon my language. I just can't even imagine! I mean what's their logic, that if they get in a crash at 90 it's the same damage as at 70? I mean I guess that's probably true, but at 70 you have a split second longer to react and hopefully not be in an accident.

Sorry, but your moms boyfriend should have been arrested for being in exhibition of the speed limit with a child in the car. That's just...I would flip. I can't even think about it because it makes me so anxious and angry.

I'm curious as to find out why someone said you're overreacting? There are speed limits for a reason. They should always be practiced especially with a child!

Id be upset, but not livid. I'd have to ask myself a few questions:
1- does he normally drive over the speed limit? If yes, and I let her go anyway, then that's a risk I accepted. 
2- do I ever speed? Yes I do. So... It would be hypocritical of me to be 'livid' at him. 
3- would I be livid if it was 80 mph? Or 81? At what speed exactly is the cut off of where I'm ok with speeding? I'd have to know that answer, and be very certain I never exceeded that speed myself. 
4- has he ever caused a wreck? Is he a generally safe driver? But that's one I would have asked prior to him driving my daughter anywhere. Either I'd be comfortable trusting my moms judgement, or not. But that's another thing that you'd have to decide for yourself. I 100% trust my mom not to allow my daughter to be in danger. Can you trust your mom equally? And if not, you probably shouldn't let her watch your daughter anymore.

I voted over reacting but then I realised you were talking in miles and not kilometres (I'm in australia) so yes I would be livid too.

I'd be livid but also would have to wonder if this was typical behavior of the the boyfriend/ mom or not. If it's not surprising, then you have to let it go knowing it was a risk when you let her go. Lesson learned. Thankfully everyone was okay.

Most new cars you cannot tell... I have a 09 scion and my average speed is 80 until I realize I'm doing it. I drove a Dodge Challenger a month ago, and despite it being a sports car, I glanced down and realized I was going 96 😳😳😳😳 I had NO idea!

She's your daughter and you want her to be safe. I'd be angry too. I can see my mum doing all sorts of things I disapprove of when I have my first *shudder*. 
I'm going to lay down the law with her. If she breaks it then there will be no leaving child with her for ages

I feel like it most likely would have been on the interstate and honestly how many people do the speed limit exactly. If your in the fast lane it's normal to do 5-10 mph over. Granted that was more but maybe he was passing someone or who knows. I would be upset but not livid.
