Why? Call the baby an it?!?!?

Why do people call the unborn baby an it? Like it bothers me when someone will ask me "if it's kickin" like  my baby is not an "it"!!

My baby was an "it" before we knew it was a HE. There's nothing derogatory about it, it's a pronoun just like he and she.

Mine was an it until it became a SHE. Definitely nothing wrong with it, it's just a way to refer to the baby without choosing a gender before its known.

If you don't know the gender. We call our babies they/them a lot because we don't know. Or we call them whatever size they are like our little blueberries, raspberries, jelly beans. Or baby Terrys. I don't think calling a baby it means they don't love the baby, they just don't know the gender and may not know what else to call it.

Lol we know that she is a SHE but a couple weeks ago my husband goes and says "it" out of old habit.. I was like "what did you just call our daughter?" 😂😂

I don't call my baby an it. I decided not to find out the sex. My baby is neither a she or a he. I call my baby E. As they both have an E in he/she. Hope that make sense. I've been saying E since 4 weeks pregnant. X

With my first pregnancy it didn't bother me at all until my dh stepdad would continue to call my daughter an it after we found out she was a girl. I would always correct him and eventually told him off. This is my second pregnancy and I'm hoping and praying he doesn't do it again. I won't know the gender until 3weeks.
