Directed pushing or spontaneous pushing??

Which is better pushing for 2-3 ten second rounds when the Dr says to or pushing when you feel the urge?

When you need to. Your body will kind of do it anyway, if you have feeling down there. My ob just had me push every time a contraction came, which is natural. Took 3 pushes in just a couple minutes, thank goodness!!

Spontaneous by far. Look into Hypnobirthing and "birth breathing" techniques.

Pushing just bc someone is telling you to is definitely NOT the way to go. You will get tired faster and could tear because you are trying to push too hard too fast.

With my son, they were all telling me to push, but honestly, I only pushed when I felt the urge. They didn't think I'd feel it since I had an epidural, but it wasn't making the urge to push. It didn't hurt or anything, but you could definitely tell when it was time.

If you try to NOT push when you feel the need and the doctor tells you not to.. Good luck.
That happened with me because the doctor wasn't there and the nude kept telling me not push yet and it didn't matter how hard I tried not to it was happening regardless..

I had a c-section so idk from personal experience but before we knew I'd need a c-section, my dr said that if you pushed whenever u feel like it rather than just during contractions like the dr says, that you are more likely to tear really bad...
