Anyone else feel this way ?

Anyone else starting or has been stressed about visitors at your home after birth ? I am due any day now and worried family coming from out of town will over stay their welcome or be too much for me and baby and hubby right away. I want some privacy but don't know how to tell family to wait to come visit (we live out of state from them)

Don't be polite! This is your child! This innocent creature is your responsibility and needs an advocate. It starts with the small stuff. Do not be intimidated. Tell the truth! It's what you want. If your family doesn't respect that, they will have to let that be their problem and deal with it. You have a supportive partner and a new baby! Plus, you'll be wanting your privacy for more than just these things. Physically, you could be really uncomfortable and walking like you ride a horse for weeks! Trust me, take at least a couple weeks. You don't know if you'll be late or induced or what... Family could arrive too early!

Let them know, they should respect your decision. I told our families (who live in other states) that no visitors were allowed till baby was 4 months. And that they weren't welcome to stay at the house. I wasn't trying to be rude, We just wanted to bond with baby and it would be to much stimulation/stress to "host" guests. So his family came to visit at 4 wks and mine at 5 wks. Everyone understood, and it worked out fine. With breast feeding and lack of sleep I could have never had visitors earlier!

I gave this job to my husband. If I'm tired or don't want anyone around right then then hubs will tell them so. You just had a baby people will understand.
