Cervical position and ovulation

So this is my first month of glow and I have pcos with irregular periods. I started tracking cm and cervical position at the end of my period. I have noticed progression in my cervical position from very firm and closed at the end of my period to softening and opening now at cd9. Would this happen if I wasn't going to ovulate or is this directly tied to ovulating?  I am anxious to find out if I'm ovulating as I went 4 months with no ad and then one failed round of femera and ovidrel shot.
