Do you agree

Why do people say we should bring God back to school. When God was in school there was segregation, racism at its peak, persecution, just treating others like crap and women were lesser beings too. So what greatness did God in schools bring? How did it teach good morals when so many people were treated badly. Who agrees with me.

God - Christian or non - has no place in public schools. If someone wants their kid to be surrounded by their religious beliefs at school then they can send their kid to a religious school.

The poll doesn't make sense. Am I voting 'yes' to bring God back to school or am I voting 'yes' to keep God out of school. A Christian God has no place in schools. I teach world history and I teach about all (well, the major) religions and belief systems (Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Shintoism, Confucianism, Taoism) so that my students understand the different beliefs.

God doesn't belong anywhere but in your place of worship of home.

Religion has absolutely no place in a public school, end of story.

Where I live, the only religious content we came in contact with was in our R.E. classes (religious ed.). But it focused on all the main religions, and taught us the reasoning behind practices unique to each religion. I preferred that. I would hate to go to a religious school. Following a Religion should be an informed personal choice, not something you conform to because it was rammed down your throat growing up.

I think all religions should be taught to kids but not pushed. More of a general history of religions and their basic beliefs. It is good to have a understanding about religions to better understand our world. Being taught or brought up with a religion is the parents job to do at home.

A lot of history classes do this. What the OP is talking about though is having like school sponsored prayer and stuff like a private school would.

Correlation is not causation. Just because God was in schools at that time doesn't mean that that is part of the reason Why there was segregation....

Or you really think that opressed groups were allowed to have their own religion in a Christian world?

Mia, maybe you should study more about story. Forced convertion happened all the time and still happens nowadays. In my country, during colonization, several native and african folks were obligated to become christian.

I think the concern should be on the curriculum in schools and God should be left at church. Period. They have that seperation for a reason. People are too focused on whether or not there is God in school when they should be focused on what their kids are learning in school. I am sick of having to fill in the gaps in my daughters education because there is too much focus on "bringing God back". If you want your child to have more religious focus in there education send them to a religious school or take them to church for Sunday school.
