Sleeping thru the night?

Question

How long till you baby slept thru the night? My baby is 5 weeks old & wakes up about every 2hrs sometimes sooner to nurse. I'm wondering if I'll ever get a good night sleep. Is it possible for breastfed babies to sleep all night, I know breast milk digests quicker than formula.

My son is 10 weeks old. We had our 2 month well baby visit last week. It was a tiring day with vaccines. He slept 8 hours that night, 9 the next, and 7 after that. Before the doctor's visit he would wake at 2am, 4am, 6am, and 8am. Now we are sleeping 10pm to 3am and 4-7/8am.

At 2 weeks, my breastfed baby started sleeping for about 5 hours straight. Then she would eat, then sleep for another 3. According to my pediatrician that was earlier than normal, but it's not uncommon a couple of weeks later (the second month). So it's not quite through the night, but if I time things right, I can make do with getting up just once. That already makes a big difference.

That's normal for a 5 week old. Your baby will sleep through the night when he/she is ready, don't try to force it. My son is 5 months old, exclusively breastfed and he sleeps the whole night...I don't remember exactly when he started, but it's been 2-3 months. Hang in there!

My LO slept through the night starting at 5 weeks! (EBF). I would wake once in the middle of the night to pump though, but she slept ALLLLL night! :D

My LO is 6 weeks BF and wakes every 2 hrs. SOMETIMES- 3 hrs but rarely! I feel your pain !!

My bf 8 month old goes to bed at 8:00 after nursing. I go back in and nurse him again right before I go to sleep,  usually around 11. He sleeps most nights until anywhere from 4-6am,  usually around 5am though. It seemed like every month he started sleeping a little longer. But I still haven't slept more than 6 or so hours at a time since he was born. I guess I'm just used to it by now. But then again,  it won't last forever then I'll miss it.

Isn't there a growth spurt around 5 weeks or so? I swear I remember those newborn days as one growth spurt after another!

Sleeping through the night is technically 5hrs straight. Pretty sure by the time I went back to work (around 12 weeks) my previous two were sleeping at least one good stretch. :)
