Guy wants space

I've been seeing a guy for 6 months. He was recently divorced. I had weird feeling that he still had feelings for her but he always assured me he did not. Today she sent him a message saying how much she loved him and didn't want to throw away the 8 years they were together. She said she wants her family back. Well he asked what he should do and I said he needs to be honest about his feeling towards her. After talking for awhile he says I need to take space. It's hard being between you I love and the woman who birthed my child and care about. Wth!!!!
