Is it normal?

My boyfriend and I have been sexually active for a while now. He has a very large member and every single time we are intimate, i bleed a lot, as if i just got my period. Is this normal to happen every time we are intimate or is there something wrong with me? I thought initially it was because he is very large but after all this time i should be used to him by now "down there." any advice is appreciated.
